The Kristang people are a Portuguese-Eurasian community that emerged in Melaka after the Portuguese arrival in 1511, when settlers intermarried with local women, creating a distinctive creole culture, language, and cuisine that endures to this day.

In the Kristang dialect, *Mãi* means “mother”, a word of tenderness that evokes home, heritage, and the mother tongue itself.

Our Sugee Mãi Cake honours this living tradition. Baked in a beautiful 6-inch celebration-style Bundt form, it is crafted from top-quality Italian semolina flour (distinct from the coarser Indian variety) and ground almond flour, enriched with Isigny salted butter, Madagascar vanilla extract, and rose water extract. Generously soaked in Hennessy VSOP cognac and finished with gently toasted sliced almonds glazed in a delicate Hennessy VSOP sugar glaze, every element is chosen for refinement and depth.

Fragrant and soft, it offers the classic sugee character: a rich, buttery crumb with golden, slightly grainy texture, subtle nuttiness from almonds and semolina, and elegant notes of cognac, vanilla, and rose.
